About Me.
U.J. Mangune (they/she/he) is a Tagalog-Kapangpangan, first-generation American artmaker working at the intersections of direction, choreography, shooting, and editing for live events and music videos. With over a decade of experience as both a performer and a director/choreographer in musical theatre and commercial media, U.J. has collaborated with clients including Amazon Prime, GooglePlay, Macklemore, Wowowee, Jai’len Josey, Tia Corine, and regional theatres across the U.S.

Rooted in breaking, popping, and the iconic M.J. era (especially the Free Willy opener, iykyk), U.J. brings the same energy, vulnerability, and sense of community that first inspired their artistry. Collaboration is central to their process, with an emphasis on intimacy coordination, queer representation, and spotlighting the stories of the global majority. Their work aims to build spaces where movement, music, and story meet and where underrepresented voices are given the platform they deserve.
